Today, Wednesday, May 4th, Bungie finally reset the Halo 2 Xbox Live stats as well as integrated the two new free maps into it's matchmaking as well as added the two commercial maps ($5.99 for both) to a special, "Deluxe" matchmaking playlist, that only people who paid for the maps may enter, called Team Preview. (Also, you now have to download the two free maps to play matchmaking on Xbox Live
There are some alternatives to buying though. All of the maps will be available this summer for free, and for those of you that don't have Xbox Live, you will be able to purchase a special "extension" disk, including the four maps available now plus an additional five, as well as more extra cinematic content, much like the bonus DVD in Halo 2 Special Edition. This will cost $20.00 and won't be available for a couple months.
Bungie also cleared up a rumor that has been going around causing panic for a while about the Friends lists being reset. Bungie has promised that they will not touch the friends lists, so please stop sending your friends messages trying to make sure they stay on your list. It's really annoying. Lastly, Bungie has announced that they are changing the starting weapons when you download the matchmaking update. Head over here to read more on this.
